We haven't been idle in the last few weeks, a newsletter is almost ready to be sent out, we have had some informal meetings to solve mostly technical problems and improve the communication between tech teams, BoD and other volunteers.

Our next public BoD meeting is on Thursday, June 12th at 21:00 CEST on http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=BoDpublic. Please log in with your BW-username. Like with previous times the idea is that you can read, what is being discussed, but not write yourself…

Hi all,

somewhat delayed by the server crash a new version of the code driving the web site has just been released. Most of the changes have been done in the (invisible) backend cleaning up code and hopefully offer the volunteers some better tools.

The dev team plans to cleanup more code with the next release while adding some interesting new features for everyone to enjoy.

The effort wouldn't have been possible without the help of some dedicated people like cumbking, tsjoek and leoalone.

Thanks…

As you probably noticed, BeWelcome has experienced several hours of downtime today. Last night around 2.00 (CEST) the disk of one of our servers failed.   A team of volunteers has been working hard the whole day today, and thanks to them the website is now up and running again. Luckily,it looks like it was possible to restore most of the data. However since part of the data could have been lost, we would recommend you to check if the messages you sent and the comments you wrote after 00:00 a.m.

Hi all,

it's been a while but finally a new release for the web site. Main addition are the advanced options for the new text based search which can now be found in the 'Find members' menu.

As the provider of the map tiles changed his policy for serving free tiles we had to switch to a different provider which now is Mapquest. The maps show a bit more terrain due to this switch.

Additionally some bugs were fixed and some suggestions (/suggestions/dev) were implemented. This includes the removal…

Dear BW members,   As you may know, BoD elections have recently taken place.    During the usual post-election informal meeting, we newly elected BoD members discussed how to divide the roles, handled part of the bureaucratic steps that every new board needs to take care of (paperwork with French authorities),  and laid out some general principles for the future work to be done. There is still a bit of paperwork to do, but in general we are pretty much ready and eager to start working.   The…
